Well, that was the most intense experience of my life. I'm glad we saved the Captain, but my goodness I hope to never have to do that again.
I'm thankful that I didn't need to fire my phaser. Don't get me wrong, I understand it's value, and it's important that I stay proficient with it. Joe's help was invaluable and I was confident the whole time that if I had to take a shot it would land and I'd be safe.
I watched a man get killed today. Not shot by a Marine or Security Officer in the line of duty. Murdered. And almost everyone around me seemed to not care. Because of what he put the Captain through, he apparently deserved it. But I don't think so. At least, it wasn't our call to make.
The rage of one tortured soul might explain why she would lash out, but it doesn't excuse it.
It's not like I haven't seen death before. I'm a doctor. We lose patients sometimes, and sometimes it's due to violence. But it's never excusable.
I expect that she'll think less of me, being the one to make a formal complaint. But that's just something I'll have to deal with, I suppose. She's alive, and she's getting the help she needs.
I might need to schedule some time with Lamia myself. I'm having trouble getting the image of The Apostate out of my head. His neck at that ungodly angle. The rage in Captain Somers' eyes.
Christ, I'm filthy. The sterilization field is great but doesn’t remove the sweat or dirt. I don't think the sonic shower will do.
:sound of kicking boots off:
Computer, is there a holodeck free?
=/\= Affirmative. Holodeck three is available. =/\=
Reserve it for the next hour for me. I want a luxury bath.
:sounds of uniform fasteners being unclasped:
Water thirty-nine degrees Celsius. Lots of bubbles. Lavender scent. Setting...outdoors, at dusk, on a clear evening, air twenty-two degrees Celsius. I don't care where, just make it pretty. A table next to the bath with cleaning implements.
=/\= Program ready. =/\=
Thank you. You know what? I'm too tired to walk. Transport me there. Oh, computer, end log.
